Commitment Statement:

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, representing more than 100,000 registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs), nutrition and dietetic technicians, registered (NDTRs), and advanced-degree nutritionists, is the largest association of food and nutrition professionals in the United States and is committed to improving health through food and nutrition across the life cycle.The Academy commits to accelerating the adoption of Alternative Payment Models by preparing and engaging a workforce that will provide patient centered cost-effective care and add value for all stakeholders engaged in an Alternative Payment Model environment. The Academy will:

  1. Leverage the LAN and its partners and industry resources to develop customized education for RDNs including toolkits, webinars, face-to-face learning, the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and web-based content to increase the knowledge of seasoned professionals and those in training who will add value in organizations adopting Category 3 and 4 APMs.
  2. Offer “technical assistance” to LAN partners testing Clinical Episode or Population Based Payments where stakeholders want to include evidence-based nutrition care in the design.
  3. Share its Patient Centered Nutrition Services framework with LAN participants seeking to estimate the total cost of care throughout the continuum of care in chronic disease prevention and management.
