6B: Data Infrastructure to Support APMs at Scale

Successful scaling of alternative payment models (APMs) requires not only the availability of substantial amounts of data, but also the infrastructure to process, manage, and share that data with stakeholders. These data include quality and information metrics from claims and clinical data, practice improvement activities, and risk-adjusted total costs of care, among others. These data are used to create reports that inform payers, providers, plans, and consumers about all aspects of an APM’s performance. This session will review the experiences and best practices from across the country that have led to the development of tools for managing and delivering data in a timely fashion so that providers, policymakers, and other stakeholders are able to improve health care quality, reward physicians, and reduce costs.
