9F: Engaging Providers in Payment Reform

The success of alternative payment models (APMs) depends in part on robust partnerships with health care providers. However, because the accountable care movement is a relatively recent phenomenon, APMs have little information on which to draw when attempting to identify ideal provider partners. This session will offer recommendations on how to identify and partner with high-value providers by focusing on providers’ cultural competencies, technical ability, patient-centeredness, and financial readiness. Attendees will also learn about key issues such as market trends and partnership dynamics as shared through case studies from the field as well as the results of a recent 18-month research project conducted by Leavitt Partners and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
