Marc Berg is an internationally acknowledged expert in the principles and practice of measuring the value of health care delivery. His expertise covers the broad range from clinical relevance to methodological rigor to the required analytics and data requirements. He has played a leading role in the introduction of public performance measures on the quality and safety of hospital care, mental health care, nursing home care, chronic care, amongst others. He pioneered the introduction of measuring value of care for defined populations, working for both governments and public payers, building upon an integrated set of claims data, patient-reported outcome measures and clinical data. He is key advisor to British Medical Journal’s new Outcomes journal. Marc was Professor of Social Medicine in the Department of Health Policy and Management of Erasmus University Rotterdam, and has been in leading health care consulting roles for more than a decade.
